10 years?! Yep, a full decade of hosting these things (with only a couple of skipped years because of that pandemic thing... but I also had two of these one year... so...)
What's this all about? Pretty simple, but I'll give those you who haven't been here before the rundown.
We get together, play some board games and things.
I've definitely got room for three or four games to be going on concurrently.
We're kicking off at noon, so I will have some things for noshing... not as much as in years past (probably), because money is a little tight right now.
Why? Because last year around this time, I bought a house. And then the world got all sorts of weird. So... yeah... still tight budget-wise.
Anyway, on with the event stuff...
If there's nothing to your liking or we chow through it all, there can be a delivery order of some sort put in (pizza or Chinese or whatnot). There are tons of places nearby. So, whoever's around, will have some say in that.
I don't have any alcohol in the place, so if you want some, bring it. (And then take any leftover booze with ya when you leave, since they're kind of wasted on me as I don't drink...)
Parking should be done on the main hunk of the road, as my little cul-de-sac tends to get really crowded on the regular (I swear everyone here but me has, like 4-6 cars... and it's kind of a narrow cul-de-sac to begin with). Everything around here is residential, so no worries about much. Plus I can kind of see the Giant parking lot from my front steps if the trees are bare... it's not that much of a walk in good weather.
Public-transportation-wise, there's a bus stop at Independence and Connecticut. I know the L8 Metrobus stops there. Probably some others, but since I don't have to do buses any more, I'm not quite sure what else comes by.
Now, I know most people I know have been at least sensible, if not pro-active when it comes to health concerns. I'm all vaxed and boosted. But, again, the world out there is still a bit crazy. I'm relying on people I know to be sensible. If you're not all up to date on your preventative measures, don't show up. If you're feeling even a little under the weather, stay home and rest up. And if you just don't want to come because I'm not doing temperature checks and quick antibody tests and whatnot, that's okay... I fully understand and appreciate that.
While this is an open event, I've never had any absolutely random people show up. But if I know you, I'm perfectly okay with you introducing me to new people. As long as they're also being reasonable about health concerns. You're responsible for anyone you bring or invite.
This is the first of two events for this year (the other is the Spooky Game Day, planned for November, just post Halloween). If you can't make it, that's okay... we're getting back into the swing of things and there will be more in the future.
Reach out for more info (like the address here in Rockville, MD).
